Vitamix Blender
This is one of the best blenders on the market. They are sturdy and will last for years. The vitamix is excellent at blending the food up fine and smooth, not leaving little chunks floating around. The case is plastic (won't break if the kids drop it), the lid is rubber, and the base is made out of steel. This is a heavy duty blender, and it will last for years.
For the person who is serious about their health and organic food, a Vitamix blender is a great choice. This is top of the line in blenders; if money is no object, and you want a strong sturdy blender for preparing foods, this is a MUST. So while this may be an expensive price, consider it well worth your money as it will last for years, and will help prepare healthy and delicious foods for your family.

Speaking from experience
I've owned a Vitamix blender now for about a year and a half now, and I can't say enough about it. Our Vitamix blender is a strong, sturdy, useful blender made for almost anything we've put in it.
I use mine most often for making smoothies. It's easy, just cut up some bananas, along with 5-6 frozen strawberries, add a cup or so of soymilk, and drizzle some honey over it. One very important thing is to make sure the lid is secure before turning it on. Once that is done, make sure it's plugged in, and just flip the on switch. You may wish to start from low and go to high.
After it blends for a while, possibly 30 seconds or so, you are done! Just open the blender, pour into a few glasses, and you and your family are ready for some smoothies!
This is only one out of hundreds of possible uses for the Vitamix Blender. I use it to make vegan cheese sauces, smoothies, sauces, and sooo much more. You can make veggies smoothies as well from parsley and pinapple.
