Organic Milk
There's been a lot of news about Mad Cows Disease lately. While many experts claim that the disease will NOT contract into the cow's milk, there is a lot of evidence that it does indeed pass onto the milk. At the very least, there is little or no evidence to prove against this.
Animals have become increasingly diseased in the past few years, and many die well before their prime. A good old dairy cow on a farm 50 years ago could have easily lived till 15 years. Now, after only 4-5 years, a cow is milked out and ready to be shipped to the butcher. This is not good, and surely diseases the milk.
One alternative to the danger in milk is to purchase only organic milk from cows that live under healthier conditions. If you want information on organic labels, have a look at our Organic Food Labels page.
The best alternative is to reduce, or eliminate milk from the diet. There are some wonderful alternatives to milk, which, while they may take a while to adjust to in taste, are far better healthwise. Have a look at our Vegan Food Pyramid to see what you could eat with a dairy and meat free lifestyle. There is a lot of information against milk, and the effects it has on our bodies. All you need to do is look for it!
