First, there are more types of bananas then the yellow ones we always see in the store. There are small finger sized ones, small red sized ones, called Red Jamaica, there are bananas that taste like apples, and there are platanos, also known as plantains. Plantains are very starchy, and are often eaten as a fried or cooked vegetable.
Bananas can make great puddings, smoothies, fruit salads, and much more.

Should I buy my bananas organic?
The Environmental Working Group lists the banana as among the 12 most popular fruits and vegetables containing the least amount of pesticides and chemicals. Therefore, when purchasing bananas, if possible, buy organic, however, it shouldn't be an issue of worry.
